LEGION Combat Sambo / Combatives

Sambo is An acronym for “SAMozashchita Bez Oruzhiya” or “Self-defense without weapons”, Sambo is a form of sport, self-defense, and combat established in the former Soviet Union during the early twentieth century. Sambo is a combination of strikes, grappling and throws. Our members compete in Mixed Martial Arts, San Sau, No-Gi grappling as well as many other tournements. Legion MMA is working in tandem with the American Sambo Association for the common goal of bringing the art and competition of Sambo to Michigan. We hope to become very active in the Sambo competition circles as our program develops.

LEGION Combatives focuses on proficiency in a variety of "empty hand" and weapon techniques including live fire firearms training. The foundation of the course is built on over 20 combined years of Law Enforcement training. Participants of our Combatives course have come from a variety of backgrounds including law enforcment and private contracting.

LEGION MMA is a member of the American Sambo Association.
